A native of Baltimore, Maryland, Womack brings a strong background in leadership, youth development, athletics, and nonprofit management. His personal foundation is rooted in faith, family, community, and service — values that closely align with the YMCA mission and the Foley community.
“We are excited to welcome Demonya to the YMCA of South Alabama family,” said Gwen Sommer, CEO of YMCA of South Alabama. “His passion for mentorship, community impact, and leadership makes him a great fit for the Snook Family YMCA and the families we serve in Foley.”
A standout three-sport student-athlete in football, basketball, and track & field, Womack continued his athletic and academic journey at Albright College in Reading, Pennsylvania, where he competed as a collegiate football player while earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications with a concentration in Public Relations and Advertising. He later earned a Master’s Degree in Sports Management from the United States Sports Academy.
Throughout his academic and professional career, Womack has focused on creating transformative experiences through coaching, mentorship, and collaboration. Guided by the belief that “strong people build strong communities,” he is passionate about helping individuals discover their purpose, pursue their goals, and positively impact those around them.
His professional experience includes working with the Charlotte Hornets organization, where he helped oversee grassroots youth basketball camps throughout North and South Carolina. He has also served in leadership and management roles within several nonprofit organizations, including three nationally recognized Top Ten youth nonprofits in the United States.
“I’m excited to join the YMCA of South Alabama and become part of the Foley community,” said Womack. “I look forward to building relationships, serving families, and creating a positive impact throughout the community.”
Outside of work, Womack enjoys sports, coaching youth and high school athletics, public speaking, and traveling. After spending several years in northern climates, he is excited to return to the Gulf Coast and enjoy the warm weather, beaches, food, and community spirit the area offers.
