Today’s cleanup at Foley High School showcased a strong example of youth-led, community-driven environmental action.

Fifteen Marine Science students participated in a focused 1-hour cleanup effort, led by team lead Miss Amanda, a Foley teacher. Working together, the students collected 5 five-gallon buckets of trash, helping improve the school surroundings and protect nearby waterways.

The effort highlighted the importance of engaging young people in hands-on environmental stewardship. Experiences like this not only create immediate impact but also help build long-term awareness and responsibility for protecting local ecosystems, coastlines, and natural spaces.

It continues to be encouraging to see students take initiative and demonstrate genuine care for their environment. Small, consistent actions like these contribute meaningfully to cleaner and healthier communities.

Grateful to everyone who participated and dedicated their time and energy to making a difference today 💙
