Riviera Utilities Welcomes a Great Crowd for September Business After Hours

Business After Hours

Bringing Business Professionals Together for an Evening of Connections and Community

Business After Hours 2026 SEP Riviera Utilities

FOLEY, Ala. — The South Baldwin Chamber of Commerce enjoyed an outstanding turnout for its September Business After Hours, hosted by Riviera Utilities at its Foley location. Chamber members, business owners, and local professionals gathered for an evening of great food, friendly conversations, and opportunities to connect with the people and businesses that make South Baldwin such a strong community.

Guests enjoyed a delicious selection of food catered by Half Shell Oyster House, with refreshing beverages served by Bottles Up Mobile. The relaxed, welcoming atmosphere made it easy to catch up with familiar faces, meet new contacts, and enjoy a little time away from the usual workday.

Alicia Watts, Membership Engagement Director for the South Baldwin Chamber, welcomed the crowd and thanked everyone for attending. Brian Skelton, President and CEO of Riviera Utilities, also addressed guests, expressing his appreciation for the Chamber partnership and sharing a little about the organization and its role in serving the region.

Skelton noted that Riviera Utilities employs approximately 290 people, with around 240 based in Foley. The organization provides electric, water, wastewater, and natural gas services to the greater Foley community, with electric and gas service extending into additional areas of Baldwin County, including the Eastern Shore. He also recognized Riviera Utilities board members Barbara Ingram and Charlie Ebert, who were among the evening's guests.

Established in 1916, Riviera Utilities has served South Baldwin for more than a century, providing essential services that support local homes, businesses, and continued economic growth. As a community-focused public utility, the organization remains committed to reliable service, customer relationships, and improving the quality of life for the communities it serves.

Business After Hours is about more than exchanging business cards. These monthly gatherings give Chamber members the chance to step outside their everyday routines, meet professionals from different industries, learn more about fellow member businesses, and build relationships that often lead to new opportunities. By highlighting a different host each month, the Chamber also provides valuable visibility for local businesses and organizations while encouraging members to support one another.

And, of course, there were some fantastic door prizes! Lucky winners took home everything from local festival tickets to a Ninja SLUSHi machine, an ice maker, and the evening's grand prize—a gas-powered pizza oven! The excitement continued with the Chamber's popular Split-the-Pot drawing, benefiting the South Baldwin Chamber Foundation and its educational enrichment programs serving 14 local schools in the Foley High and Elberta High School feeder pattern. A special thank-you goes to this month's winner, Garrett Taylor with Gray Hat IT, who generously donated his winnings back to the Foundation. We appreciate his support of local students and education!

The South Baldwin Chamber extends its sincere appreciation to Brian Skelton and the entire Riviera Utilities team for their hospitality and for hosting such a successful evening. Thank you as well to Half Shell Oyster House, Bottles Up Mobile, and the many Chamber members and guests who joined us.

It's the participation and enthusiasm of our local business community that make events like Business After Hours so valuable. We look forward to seeing everyone at our next gathering as we continue bringing people together, supporting local businesses, and building a stronger South Baldwin—one connection at a time.
