A South Baldwin Tradition Takes Flight Once Again
A South Baldwin Tradition Takes Flight Once Again
22nd Annual Gulf Coast Hot Air Balloon Festival Recap
The 22nd Annual Gulf Coast Hot Air Balloon Festival brought another vibrant weekend of community, entertainment, and Gulf Coast charm to OWA Parks & Resort in Foley, Alabama. From live music and local vendors to family-friendly activities across the property, the festival once again created a welcoming space for residents and visitors to gather, connect, and enjoy all that South Baldwin has to offer.
As with any outdoor event, weather played a role this year, and Friday’s activities were canceled out of an abundance of caution due to forecasted storms and wind. Safety remains the top priority for our guests, vendors, volunteers, and pilots. From there, the focus shifted forward, and the community showed up in full support to enjoy the remainder of the weekend.
At the heart of the festival are the hot air balloon pilots, many of whom travel from across the country to be part of this event. Their passion and dedication to sharing the beauty of ballooning with our community is what makes this festival so unique. We are incredibly appreciative of their commitment and the experiences they bring to festivalgoers year after year.
This event would not be possible without the generous support of our presenting sponsor, Columbia Southern University, along with our top-tier partners and sponsors who help bring this event to life. Their investment allows the festival to remain a free, family-friendly experience for our community.
A special thank you goes to our host location, OWA Parks & Resort, for providing an outstanding venue, and to the City of Foley, including Fire, Police, and Public Works, whose partnership and support are essential to safely hosting an event of this scale. Their collaboration ensures the festival runs smoothly and safely for all involved.
Behind the scenes, this event is powered by a dedicated team of committee members, volunteers, and Chamber staff who work year-round to plan and execute every detail. Their efforts continue through every circumstance, always focused on creating the best possible experience for our community.
“Our team puts their heart into this festival all year long,” said Events Director Rachel Spear. “No matter what comes our way, we stay focused on delivering something special for our community. Seeing everyone come together is what makes it all worthwhile.”
South Baldwin Chamber of Commerce CEO Travis Valentine added, “This festival reflects the strength and spirit of South Baldwin. We’re grateful for the continued support from our sponsors, partners, volunteers, and everyone who joined us this year.”
In the coming weeks, we’ll be sharing more photos and highlights, along with a special feature recognizing awards and milestones celebrated during this year’s festival.
Thank you to everyone who played a part in making the 2026 festival a success.
